On Wednesday, January 18, 2011 the Arizona Chapter started the year with new officers and three directors. Our 2012 newly elected president Ray Russo with Sika Corporation began the meeting by introducing this year’s newly elected officers followed by the exciting evening’s program.
The chapter meeting topic was “Concrete Petrography” by Derek X. Cong of WJE. The objective of the presentation was to let our audience know about a unique and indispensible tool in trouble shooting materials-related construction problems. How it can identify problems in concrete mix design, placement, finishing, curing, and service.
Mr. Cong outlined the basic principles and methods of concrete petrography, and he demonstrated through case studies, how concrete petrography can help engineers to identify construction related problems. Thank you to this month’s guest speaker!
